If you hunt Fall Turkeys, do you

Hunt in your home state?
Travel to the nearest state with a fall season?

Just curious how many Fall Turkey hunters we had here and was curious if you would be bowhunting or shotgun hunting.

Spring Creek Calls

Shotgun for me, but will take one with the bow while deer hunting if possible.

Fall is my favorite time to turkey hunt.I use bow and gun in the fall and just bow in the spring.
When I turkey hunt I use a DSD decoy

I love the fall hunt too! I travel to Michigan as there is no fall hunt in my area in Ontario. Last year a few days after finishing my hunt I saw 27  :o gobblers chasing each other around in the field. I hope to introduce one to a load of TSS this fall.

I live in Texas and we have a long fall turkey season.  I normally hunt with a bow in the early part and finish  with a shotgun in January.  We can harvest a total of four birds per year and I try to get at least one with a bow.

I'll be bowhunting fall turkeys in WI.

Here are some pics of one I shot last fall

Right after the shot where he expired.

He had two beards - 6" and 3"

Those are some nice pictures Mountain Man, did you ambush him on his travels or did you call him to you?

Thank you.  I guess it was really neither an ambush or calling.  I had shot a deer the night before and it was a pass through but I couldn't find my arrow in some tall grass.  I went back the next morning to find my arrow (and I found it).  There was a group of 4 or 5 toms in an alfalfa field.  I sneaked up on them and shot the one that was closest to me - about 20-25 yards.  In this case I was an opportunist.  The birds were there and I had my bow with me so I tried to make something happen.  I only had one tag so I was done for that season but I was very happy with the bird I shot.

Normally I try to pattern them.   This year I bought some extra tags so we'll see what happens.

I'm really a fall turkey hunter at heart, springtime just gives me something to do for a month and a half.  The first turkeys i ever called in were in the fall as was my first turkey killed.  I love it!
