Life is tough for the wild turkey

The problem with being a wild turkey is that everything is after wild turkey. They carry all sorts of injuries and scars from fighting and accidents. The first turkey I ever shot had lead pellets in his breast from where my cousin had shot at him while he flying past him 3 days prior. I have also shot a gobbler on a WMA in Mississippi who had claw marks raking across his breast where apparently a bobcat just missed his chance of having turkey for dinner.

What injuries have you found on gobblers that you have taken?

Cheers  ;D

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

A few years back I shot a nice Merriams that had about a 3" long stick in it's breast. Didn't seem to bother him at all as he came in gobbling and strutting into the call.Stick most have been in him for awhile as the wound was mostly healed up around that stick.
