Mini me

I am very new to using diaphragm calls and can't quite get the tone or timing for my yelps and I need some tips.

Could be the diaphragm that u use that just can't sound how you want. Maybe try another one, as simple as this...

Is it a store bought or one you made? Just to make sure...
And second question is, is it tripple reed or double?

I use a woodhaven 3 reed bat wing and it sounds alright just raspy and on occasion high pitched. I tried a hooks executioner but that one didn't fit my mouth quite right, and I couldnt get it to sound good. Do you have any recommendations?

For the call that didn't fit you, you can just cut it with scisors to make it fit your mouth just right.

For that other call, practice a lot with it and if the sound always stays the same, I'd think that this call will just always sound like this. If you don't quite like the sound it makes, change for another one until you find the right one for your preferences. There's all sort of different cuts in the reeds, some are V cut, ghost cut, to name a few... different cuts will produce different sounds...

Personnaly I like when it's raspy and I think that a turkey call should sound raspy... It just depends on what sound your trying to make... I like a good raspy yelp...
