I am very proud to post she shot her gun twice today and was pretty accurate.  I had a guy bring his 10 year old she shot first and thats all it took.  I am very proud and grateful tonight.

My oldest is now 11.  She enjoys shooting. We started with a .22 cricket. Annoying gun but perfect to tech with.  Its single shot, bolt action. Started with .22 quiet and ear muffs. Put a cheap scope on and got it dialed in around 50 yards.  We shot a bunch 1 summer. 1st 100 rounds I showed her how to load gun, set safety, and unload gun.  After about 100 rounds she seemed to figure it out and then next few hundred rounds I would sit next to her while see did each step. Gun was setup in bog pod death grip.  This took most of 1 summer to do  think she was around 7 or 8 at the time.  I wanted around 1000 rounds down range before deer hunting.  Got close to 500-600 and her grandad gave her a .223 bolt action. She would not shoot around anyone else but me.  So took a few trips till she told me that, then we started burning the barrel on that gun,  had a bit more noise and little recoil.   She worries about the k8ck on everything.  She would of been 9 then, she dialed it in and was sharp at 100 yards. She can run that gun all by herself.  So I just sit next to her and let her be in charge.  Pretty sure she shot 250-300 rounds over the summer.  Finally got her 1st deer hunt with her grandad. Shot a doe n couldn't find it.  This last summer I took a buddies 7mm-08. This last summer we shot probably 50 rounds with it. She was timid to start but started with reduced recoil rounds. Switched to what we hunted with and she was dialed in. I let her send some at 150 and 200 just, well why not lol. We continued shooting the .223 because it's cheap and no recoil.  This deer season she missed a really good buck " saved me about $700 dollar taxidermy bill" at 135 yards but finally got an official kill on a coyote at 40 yards.  Now she says she wants to shoot my muzzeloader and the 410.  Long winded to say I took it as a very slow process and rushed nothing, let her learn n spent a pile of money to not let her get the wrong time.  Also took a nerf football and quartered it long ways. Taped it to the stock with athletic tape at a height that fit her.
