Snake boots 2026!

Like Bhwana, I have never seen a poisonous snake when turkey hunting  and I think the odds of getting bit are very low.  However, since I wear my snake boots, I don't have to really look for them so I have no idea how close I may have come.  Second, I have taken care of many snake bites in the ER.  They are nasty things.  I will always wear snake boots and put permethrin on my clothes.  One less thing I have to worry about and can focus on Mr. Tom

Danner Sharptail have been the most comfortable I have found but my options are limited because of boot size.

They are water resistant at best even after coating with camp dry.

I bit the bullet last year and bought a pair of La Crosse Venom II boots. Nice boots and are very well constructed, but I feel like Hermon Monster walking in them. Like MSM210 stated, "Arrived pretty quickly but I couldn't even get close to getting my foot in them.  Read afterwards this is not something new as many have had that issue".  I sent them back and had to order them, I believe a size or two bigger to be able to get my foot in them.
I don't care what it is whether it's my boots, seat cushion etc. I like to be comfortable when I'm hunting or fishing because I'll stay out there longer. Maybe once I break them in a little more, I may grow to like them, but for now I'm on the fence.

Kind of my thoughts as well. I do run up on multiple a yr and a buddy got popped when we were young. Lasting effects to say the least.

Encounter two that I saw. One was several feet away and not a threat. The second was in some grass in the middle of the trail, I stepped past him and then saw him. He did not strike but I was close. I have Rocky snake boot but calves do not allow them to be zipped so I went to snake gaiters. I looked at the Twisted X and they look intriguing

I still haven't found anything I like better than my Russell Moccasin Turkey Hunters. They're snakeproof but not 100% waterproof so not quite the best of both worlds but I've enjoyed them.

I know they made a run of them in the second half of 2024 but they no longer had the snakeproof lining. I don't think they made any last year for some reason. Might be worth a call to see if they're doing any more production runs of them any time soon.
