I found similar issues with tetras at first as Ken mentioned. It took several hunts to get used to them and most of those issues resolved themselves for me. The key for me is I use either turkey or turkey boost mode and rarely turkey magnum. On base turkey, the calls are not distorted enough to matter for me. On magnum, a gobble 200 yds away sounds like he's in your lap.
