Gear dump and recommendations

Thanks for the correction about Air Tags. I was under the impression they would ping off of any cell towers. I will be checking into this for more details on this since I was depending on this being a help for my family tracking me in the woods while hunting even if my cell phone wouldn't pick up a signal.

Great ideas. Here is what I have and use it when I fish inshore and offshore, hike and hunt.  They to on sale frequency for $99 and you can start and stop the service as needed....

You're a better person than me, I tried those dry / green leaves one time and decided I would at least have toilet paper besides what 3 items you carry .. LOL

I have one of those plastic "ammo cans" from Harbor Freight that serves as my turkey tool kit and it stays in the truck the whole season. Extra ammo and a flex rod gun cleaning kit in the bottom in the tray and lid compartment is extra Thermacell pads/fluid, knife, call conditioning stuff, back up calls, flashlight/batteries, chunk of paracord. Just a bunch of miscellaneous extra stuff that I wouldn't want to be without.

X2, I keep the old metal army box with pretty much the same stuff in it. I have a bore snake, (20 and 12 gauge)depending on which gun I tote. You never know when dirt will get into barrel from a fall etc. An oiled gun towelette in case I get wet. Have to be ready for anything that could damper the hunt.

Instead of an air tag I just share my phones location with my wife. It gives her peace of mind and if my phone doesn't have service it will show her the last place I had signal and what time.

Does any one have a brand of clippers or headlamp they recommend. I've always bought a cheap one of both and end up replacing it each year. I'd like a nicer quality one for this next season.

I presume that by clippers you mean hand pruners... If so, try felcos. You won't need to buy another one unless you loose them, good for your lifetime... And you can get new blades if they become dull and you don't want to sharpen them. I have a pair and I carry it on all my hunts. I use it for cutting legs and wings from birds also.

For a headlamp, I'm taking suggestions also... Tired of just throwing away the cheap ones...

Good suggestion on sharing the phone localisation, never thought about that.

For some of you who've mentionned localisations issue... Just saying, recent Iphone now have the function to send satelites text message.. From Iphone 15 and up if I recall... You'd have to make your research to know more, it's only been mentionned to me, I have looked it up yet...

If it's not that, then you could go with a Zoleo or a spot x device. Both can send a gps location.

As for gear dump, good suggestion's been mentionned up above, I would add to the list of items I carry in the bag with me is 2 hand towels, one for general purpose the other one for cleaning your hands after cleaning a bird and plastic bags for putting your turkey's meat/carcass.
