12ga A300 setup

Without a whole long boring back story, I got a 12ga A300 that I bought for wing shooting, but I'm thinking I want to rig it also for turkeys, and specifically NOT use TSS.

I have a 20ga A300 I love, and it shoots Kinetic Gunwerks #9 TSS shells well, but TSS is getting awfully pricey even for the few shells we shoot to hunt turkeys.

I saw Cabela's has Indian Creek chokes (they have a 665 in Mobil threads) for a reasonable price, so I think I'm gonna pick one up. I have to dither around and decide what sighting system I want, but overall I think the 12 will make a nice option for turkeys with lead or otherwise non-TSS shells.

I saw some older patterns posted with A300's with LongBeardXR 5's. That's what I was gonna look at...but what else is out there I could/should look at?

I may consider TSS, who knows...but it seems with the 12 I could use something less costly and not give much up compared to the 20. If I wanted to shoot larger tss for longer shooting I guess I could try that, but I don't really need nor want to chase more reach than the 50(ish) yards I can reach with the 20ga.

Indian Creek choke with Winchester Longbeard number 6's. Get the 3-Inch 1 7/8 ounce loads, should have a good pattern with this set-up. A Red Dot and Meadow Creek rib mount and you will have a killer gun for sure....

Some years ago, we tried some longbeard 4's out of my son's a300 with the stock full choke. I remember being impressed with the patterns, but I don't think I took any pics to post. I think Sumtoy has some pattern pics of an a300 with longbeards on here somewhere I saw in the past. I don't think you could go wrong with longbeards out of your gun and a .660 to.670 choke. The IC .665 should do great. My son's a300 always seemed to pattern a variety of ammo well and to point of aim. I think there is a Beretta factory rail that fits on some of the later produced a300's, the one my son has is an early one that doesn't have that feature, and isn't drilled and tapped either. As Tom said, a meadow creek rib mount would work well also.

I've shot these for years but think they've been discontinued. All I can find now is the 1 3/4 oz load.
I'd Rather be on Hazel Creek
