Mossberg sa-20 with longbeard xr?

Has anybody set one up with longbeards? Or any other lead load for that matter. I load my own tss but I want to mess around with some lead loads for hunting around home. Is it realistic to expect a 40 yard pattern out of the 20 with lead?

40 is possible with some guns/chokes.

35 is a given .

In between 35 and 40 is the most likely outcome but there's little margin of error if you misjudge range with lead in a 20.

I'd be ecstatic to get to 40 with it. It's just to play around with at home. Last year I killed my second bird with a full choke and low brass 8 shot

In my experience Longbeard XR #6 hammers through a 570 tight wad out to 40 yards. Haven't shot it through that gun and have only gotten the #6 to pattern well, but it's shot well through multiple guns with that choke.

I am glad you got a good pattern with longbeard #6 and Tight Wad choke,my patterns we're awful with that set up .I got better patterns with the #5s
