Be advised of a few developments ...this is typed with my ussual straight forward and humble persona
1) I am extremely busy making waterfowl calls , even with season being over, the demand is insane.....that in conjunction with the likely hood of a few states (Louisiana) coming out with a early black bellied duck seaon , and me being the literally only viable manufacturer in the world making those ....I have to start building waterfowl calls asap ...and its February - long time prediction is that the drought on turkey calls will be a few years or permanent
The Pintail and Wigeon calls sell instantly the moment I post them on the site - there are hundreds of hunters on the site pounding the refresh and within a minute or two durring the busy season what I managed to make that week , is gone
2) so let's talk money ....turkey calls is a "calling " not a job for me ..I do it because I love to make them., love the people I sell them to ...but ....here is the big ...but...if I make WAY more money making waterfowl calls , than turkey calls and trying to keep both affordable -- and you cant make either one fast enough , the simple solution to fix the problem is to increase the price of the turkey calls to match what I make EARNING and hustling waterfowl calls ....so ..if ...AND THATS A BIG "IF" i do make push pin calls in the future ,....I will be forced to collect way more than I did in the past we are talking $600 for starters probably 700, possibly more for more time consuming designs
I sold snakewood calls (that I broke down out of logs ) in the past that I knew full well the wood was worth more than what I was asking for the whole call , I also know that I could have sliced up blackwood ...ebony ...and other hardwoods and sold them as frett boards for guitars and made more money on ebay than making what I charged in the past for turkey calls - so it was not about the $$$ for me its about making turkey calls and turkey people
With that said we have seen for years my calls continuously being resold and flipped for huge profits ...my wife us very well aware (cause people sent her links )of all last year they went for ..1,000 and way , way more - we are FORCED to raise prices to push out the margin that flippers use to make their profits -- we tried every conceivable tactic to keep the flippers out of the equation- We have even have had people we sold calls to , turn around and want more and when I asked "what about the calls I sold you last season " they admitted they sold them ...but wanted more...like I was a water well you pump the handle on -- no more middle men guys the shows over
If you own a turkey call of mine , be advised if you sell it (and thats your business , and totally fine by us) ..that will be the last one in your lifetime I ever sell to you , ever
I wish to keep prices low , and hung in there for many years ...but...for the reasons stated we will not be flogging them off at huge discounts to turn around and be under the opinion that %85 of the calls I ever made were for the resale aftermarket - I played the nice guy for many years but when even my wife is calling me out on it ...things have to change-
Sorry - thats the situation - Shannon
