I've only had one and it has been a Billy McCallister. It's a blast to practice on. I began to really like it before last season and harvested a couple birds with it. If you come across one for a good deal I'd definitely grab it.

I bought two trumpets last year shortly after season end and I still suck at playing them. I'll likely stick to my trusty pot calls.

That is where most people mess up though. The "I am not any good" mindset really messes them up. Think of it this way, how many times have you sat on a tree and hear the most awful racket coming down the lane, thinking it is some guy on a Walmart box call, only to see a real hen walking up? If you took a real hen and put her on a competition stage, she would finish dead last EVERY time. If you can make a noise on a air operated call, carry it and try it out, you may be pleasantly surprised.

for a rock solid trumpet that is great to learn on, easy to run, and wont break the bank look at @wgcustomcalls on instagram. hes located in kentucky and is a talented call maker whos an actual turkey hunter. i cant recommend his stuff enough. get with him and he will turn you a call that looks like its 4x more what you paid for it AND it will have the sound. that goes for anyone reading this post.
