it's windy, cold and a big snow storm coming so I thought I'd start a new topic and get some opinions while things are messy out. I have Bushnell TRS-25's on a couple turkey guns and there's a killflash on one of them. I've killed gobblers with both but I've always been concerned with the red glare coming from the business end. so, who has real world experience on the topic? great idea or waste of money?
thanks in advance

I have never used one but I will offer my very uneducated opinion. I think there are a large number of other things such as movement, concealment, too much calling, too little calling, etc... that would play a much larger role when it comes to spooking turkeys. To my knowledge, I have never seen or had a turkey spook from my red dot. In just the right circumstance, I can see where you might get a flash/reflection that could spook a turkey. I personally don't see it as enough of a problem that I use them. Just my opinion. That opinion and $5 will get you a Happy Meal at McDonald's.

I've seen it happen several times.
I put a Burris tube red dot on my gun and IMMEDIATELY got picked off by several birds that should NEVER have had a clue.
I scratched my head for a while and finally guessed tgey had seen the red/orange objective lens shining. So, I installed the sunshade that came with the sight. That was probably close 10 years ago. Ain't been picked off since.
IMO..... It's a thing. Or, at least, it CAN be.

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill. I just gotta be there at the right time..... on the day he wants to die.

If available, use the killflash. I think the reflection definitely can get you picked off, based on personal experience.
