She is still at it. Not much activity around but still trying. She has called in numerous jakes but not a longbeard yet. Came close yesterday. Got set up, had birds gobbling, jakes and hens pitched into het set. One lone bird pitched into the opening behind her, gobbled once and, BANG. Somebody else came in after her and the bird walked right to  his ambush. She was disappointed but the bird did respond and was coming her way , so she is taking the positives out of the experience. Saturday is the last day, to be continued. Z

Turkeybutt

Good luck to Mrs Z. Keep us posted brother.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, tired, beat, thoroughly used up and totally worn out from chasing turkeys and loudly proclaiming; "WOW -- What a Ride!"

The last few days were soggy and windy. She toughed it out, hunting till the bell. She didn't fill her second tag but gained some knowledge and appreciation for the birds and for me, lol. She suffered the, "shoulda coulda wouldas" that we all face chasing our nemesis. And maybe she has a little more appreciation for her lumper/guide now too. It can be humbling and now she feels the same thing many of us have felt eating a tag. All good lessons and info this year. She did get a nice brd so she is satisfied. But wanting more is a human trait, she has benefittid from the time she spent in the woods. The experience was priceless. We are already starting our notebook for next year. Listing all the places we will scout and explore. I may have her talked into hunting another state next year. But that will take some time. All in all, we had a great season. Z
