Those of you that take your kids out turkey hunting with you - do you use hearing protection for them? Any suggestions on what to use?

Missed mallards

Muffs. If in blind make them put them on right before shot!

Run and gun. I'm curious myself.

RiverBuck

Youth Peltor muffs.
We don't hunt out of a blind. He keeps them on his head.. when a bird gets close he moves them over his ears.

Walkers are my go to especially with others because they electronically block gun shots, but allow speech.

Tail Feathers

Another vote for electronic muffs.  Walker or Howard Leight works well for hearing voice but blocking a shot.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

This is what I use for my grandson.

Another vote for Walkers. They can be a little tough pinpointing directions, but can clearly hear whispers, etc. I wouldn't have them on until I was expecting a shot soon though.

There are several brands of electronic muffs, and I would choose some that fit the child.  Stay away from el cheapo, and get a reliable brand.

The in ear protection is not great for kids because their ears are so small.

My kids put theirs on the second my gun was loaded. And kept them on until it was unloaded.

It is my understanding that a child's ears are more sensitive to damage than an adult's are.

Did I do that?
