Retay gordion turkey

I'm looking at buying one and was wondering what those that have one thought of them. A couple questions I have are is the point of aim and impact better than a benelli. Can I remove the rail on top of the receiver easily. And does the bolt technology they say is better for not having the benelli click as good as advertised?  Thanks for the feedback and I hope you have a safe and successful spring

I dont have one personally but I know of a number of guys that have owned one. From that experience it seems their POI issues are all over the place, some REALLY bad and others ok. IMO benelli gets a bad rap on POI but mostly from guys that dont know or understand their design for it, which is for wing shooting. Most all wing shooting designs are to shoot high in a 60/40 or some even has high as 70/30.  Look at ALL trap guns manufactured, they are designed to do exactly the same thing. Now whether or not they SHOULD be designed that way is a totally different story.

As far as the retay bolt design, its exactly the same as the bolt that benelli redesigned a few years ago. All current models have the updated design. Ive owned a SBE2 and M2 I have used for a LONG TIME in duck holes and turkey hunting and prob have 3k rounds through my SB2 and never once had an issue, and thats the old design.

I think some people get caught up on a handful of online reviews where the malfunction of the bolt is mostly user error but they blame the gun and then others run with it. In addition people that have shot thousands of rounds through them with no issue are not posting reviews like the 1% that had it happen. Again just my opinion

having said that Retay makes a very nice benelli clone, but they do have issues with POI that is pretty well documented on a number of sites. Maybe that have fixed that issue now, I dont know.

I do own a retay turkey. My only complaint is the receiver isn't drilled and tapped. The gun operates just like it should. I also own several SB3's and have no problems there. I bought the retay because of the turkey stock. Oh yeah...mine is a 20 guage. I went with a meadow creek rib mount and FF3 that seems to be really nice so far. POI is good with TSS and field load lead.

Many of the B guns have adjustable spacers to customize fit and get on target!

Mine are spot on for me with double beads!

I own a Retay Gordion 20gauge pistol grip turkey stock model and love it.  The things i really like is that its light, points like a dream and is short with a 22"barrel.  The trigger pull is way high though so you'll want to take out the assembly and send it to Precision Sports out of Wisconsin.  They will tune it to between 4-5lbs and you will absolutely love the finish product.  By the way the bolt head on the gun does not need to be slammed shut like on a Benelli.  Its impossible at least on mine to keep the bolt head from locking up which I like alot.  The action is extremely smooth operating too.  I have two M2's and love them to just really prefer this pistol grip design (for turkey hunting) and how the gun feels in my hands overall.

I've owned quite a few benelli autos. Never had one yet that the bolt had to be slammed shut, or came out of battery when I didn't want it to.

It will shoot flatter with the flat rib, compared to the Benelli.

The bolt will do its job as advertised.

The Benellis shoot high as designed. They're made to shoot flushing game thats going up and away from you. Some like this and some dont.

Don't expect Benelli build quality or reliability from anything made in Turkey.

Did you have any trouble finding a good selection of turkey chokes?  What chokes did you try and which patterned best?
