I never worked with bamboo, but I imagine it's very similar to river cane. Besides making cane yelpers (small cane), I have made a few call cases out of the bigger stuff. I use a pocket knife to scrape off the out layers. It's still work, lol, but much easier and quicker than sanding through that hard stuff. Still need to finish sand (150 and 220), but it is much easier.
