I know someone who has a wood CNC router that could cut some pot call blanks into unfinished pots for me to try my hand at some builds.

My question is this, if I wanted to try and build a slate, glass, aluminum, copper and ceramic calls, is there one wood type that would be good for all?

i would try black walnut,  cherry,    maple or anything you can find,, there is alot of wood choices out there,,

mastevt

Each wood has its own characteristics.   So making a pot call identically out of 4 or 5 different woods, using the same soundboard and surface material, you'll get a different sound out of each one.  So keep that in mind

Right on !!

If you can source these 3 locally, you're right where you need to be.

Make sure, if it's maple, you're getting HARD (from sugar maple trees) maple and not soft.
