This was my first season really putting time in using a trumpet, I would leave all my other styles of calls home so that way I could focus on just my trumpet. But first I want to thank Daryl Slaton for making me a great caller, I sent him a piece of Rutland dymondwood and he knocked it out of the park with looks and sound. I ended up tagging out here in Maryland and both birds were killed using only the trumpet. I couldn't believe how the birds responded to it. I'm sad to see turkey season end here in Maryland but I killed two great birds and my son killed his first so plenty of life long memories made!

Congrats! They certainly are fun to use once you get the hang of them. The responses they invoke are definitely amazing. They're not a "magic call" by any means; but they're like about anything, when they work, they WORK.

Since I started using trumpets I most always get a response
Can't say I get a bird all the time BUT ....
Started out using a wingbone call then went using trumpets only

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Congrats to you and your son. Congrats also on getting a great call from a great guy and finally seeing first hand how valuable a good yelper is.

Two great accomplishments. Hunting with your son and scoring with a trumpet. Well done.
