Anyone have any Champion Custom slate calls from Dickie Champion? How do you like them?
I heard a grey slate sound file from a call that was picked up at Unicoi that sounded great and close to a sound I was looking for in a new slate. I called Mr. Champion and talked to him about the sound I was looking for, something close to my Lohman Thunderdome. He ended up building me a few calls, calling me and playing them over the phone. I went with a Red Slate with an Aluminum soundboard, which I liked over the grey and green slates.
We spend close to 3 hours on the phone talking turkey, turkey calls, and swapping stories. Have to say it was a very enjoyable experience for me.
