Confidence wise is crystal but a very close 2nd is ceramic.

All around favorite for me now is green slate.

A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

Over time...they come to learn how little air a good yelper actually requires. ChesterCopperpot

Sit down wrong, and you're beat. Jim Spencer                          Don't go this year where Youtubers went last year.

Glass or crystal. Slates sound great at home, but I feel like I'm always encountering high humidity and dew which steers me away from hunting them much.

CODY World Class Slate or SPEC 1 Legend Slate are my killers!!

I'd have to say gray slate (most of my pot calls are gray slate) followed by the colored slates.  Ceramic would be next followed by glass/crystal and lastly aluminum.

About 45% of my Toms took the initial bate to synthetic glass, another about 40% to slate over glass. The rest a combination of other calls.
Of 100% of all Toms I've killed I'd say at least 40% of them came in the last few yards to be in gun range from very soft mouth calling.

Same for me. With high humidity the sound from a slate just dies out.
I've tried slates so many times only to get no response. Whip out a
glass or a crystal and gooobbllleeeee. Crystal for me now.
