Which Gun

I just missed a Browning auto 10 beautiful gun like brand new. Was gone when I went back to get it. 500 in the ten would be awesome to see. I've never shot 12 ga 3 1/2" TSS out of supermag the 3" do just fine.

Merry Christmas

No we all know that it doesn't take 500 in 10" to kill a turkey. I remember trying to get 100 in the 10" back 30+ years ago and calling that good, which it was back then because that was the best that technology allowed at the time. With today's advancement in chokes and shells there obviously is a huge increase in performance and with gauge increase there should be performance increase or no reason to accommodate the extra weight and recoil. Me and a hunting buddy are just trying to see how much we can get in the 10" just like a rifle shooter tries to decrease group size. If a guy who only plans to shoot a few shells a year at turkeys and looking for the best performance they can get for their 10"s then they can look at threads like this and others and determine if they want to use the information that we shot waisters find.

I love patterning Guns and different choke/loads in the preseason. It's all part of our sport that we all love....

For those interested I shot my BPS 10 2 times today with the first 2 handloads I put together. Both broke 500 in 10" and 380 to 400 in the 20". I loaded up a few more to try in my Buddies H+R and SP10.

Which Gun

What a pattern. How much does a reloaded shell cost with that much TSS?

Ridge Rooster

Update on load development, backed off one grain of powder and 10" increased to 553 and 20 was 316 in 20". Backed off one more grain just to see if the increase in 10" was a fluke and shot the best 10" count we have seen so far 617 in 10" and 308 in 20". They were shot out of my modified BPS with 21" barrel and Comp n Choke XXXFull at a laser ranged 40 yards.

My buddies SP10 prefers 2 more grains of powder and is pretty consistent with mid 500 in 10" and 350+ in 20". His H+R single shot has an issue with piercing primers with our loads but it also does with Apex loadings.

Unsure what the cost is as I have not broke price down yet but I am buying TSS for about 40 bucks a pound and we have a shot trap also. I load for several people from 410, 16, 20, 12 and 10 gauges.

We were pretty content with the Apex loads for the 10's but they have increased to over 70 bucks and really didn't show a big increase over their 12ga 3.5" 2.5oz loading. We decided that if we were going to pack a 10 that we would have to see an increase in performance so we finally found all the components we needed and started loading them.

Which Gun

617 in ten is amazing. Ol Tom won't stand a chance with that.

WildTigerTrout

I own a SBE1 12 ga. and a BPS 10 Ga.  Both will do the job no problem.  I like them both so use both at times.  The SBE is much lighter in weight and shoots great patterns with lead but the 10 REALLY lights them up with the now discontinued Winchester Supreme HV 2oz. load of #6 shot! Glad I kept them both.
Deer see you and think you are a stump. The Old Gobbler sees a stump and thinks it is YOU!

Notice Rogers has HeviShot Mag Blend 10's currently. They use 2 3/4oz of shot and I am curious how they preform.
