1st turkey with a 28 gauge
« on: May 03, 2021, 01:11:23 PM »
Finally got the chance to harvest a nice tom yesterday morning with my browning bps 28 gauge with a briley xf Turkey choke.  Came off the roost and came in to 21 yards.  Shot him with a hand load of 13/16 oz of #9 tss. Knocked him backwards and he flopped 2 times and was done.  Have been very impressed with my set up, have only patterned to 30 yards so far.  Wanting to try the 1 1/2 oz load but haven't been able to get any 300 mp powder.

Great job! I have a new 28ga.  Next yr I going to turkey hunt with it. I looked last night for load data for 300MP in 28ga.  I picked up 2 pds of 300MP.  I bought it to use it in 410 loads. I was told it would work in 28ga.  But can't find any data.

You won’t find any published data for that any time soon. Check with your shot supplier (unless you buy from BPI-then you’re out of luck).

Thanks guys have a pic of the turkey and gun together but I'm low tech lol.  Dont know how to add the pic.  Will ask my wife for help.  I'm jealous you have 300 mp,  looking all over for it with out any luck.  Found some on gunbroker but 1lb with shipping would cost over $100!

Buy my tss from hal.  Really knowledgable guy and if you buy the shot from him he will help you out on some loads or any questions you have.  Wont buy it any where else for the shot and information .

Buy some tss from Hal and he'll provide data for the 300MP.  You'll be hooked now.

Finally got some w296 and loaded up 10 of the 1.5 oz tss load.  Can't shoot another bird in my part of ks but gonna go to central ks toward the end of the month to see if my son and I can try and fill our other tag.  Slow load but wanted to see how it patterns.

That “slow “ load has tattooed plenty of heads. Don’t you worry about slow. TSS=Different animal. It doesn’t have to the pushed like lead. That “slow” load has punched way further than I’m allowed to discuss here.
