Turkey Guns/ other uses

Just curious if anyone uses their dedicated turkey gun for hunting other game or for turkey only?
I picked up an older 11-87(2000 model special purpose) with the 21 inch barrel, and where I live in Arkansas, the Turkey season is short, I think April 19-May 9 this year.  Really liking this gun and a shame to only get to use it 2 weeks out of the year.
  It specifically says on the barrel , not intended for light loads.  But I tried it anyway hoping I could use it for some squirrel hunting, but like the barrel says, she doesn't like light loads.  I've tried some heavy target but still didn't really like them.  I could probably buy some more expensive shells to shoot out of it, but I have some pumps so I have given up on using it for squirrels and rabbits.
   With deer season coming up, I tried some rifled slugs with an IC choke and can hit a milk jug at 75 yards with her.  I went from a crossbow to a compound bow this year and I have this one stand that has a bar for a rest welded in the front.  Anyway,  you can't shoot a compound bow out of it due to the bar, only guns and crossbows.  It's in a thicket with the furthest shot about 30 yards. So I think I found another use for my turkey gun.  It won't be my dedicated deer gun, but If I get some good deer pics on my camera at this one particular stand, I think I found a way to get to use my 11-87 outside of turkey season.
Just curious if anyone else is using their turkey gun for other game?

That's a brilliant plan. In thick stuff like that, best to put a nice .73 cal hole in the deer to make draining and tracking quick and easy.

Turkey guns make great yotte guns.  Just use a factory full and load some #2 tss.

Nothing wrong with using it for waterfowl, upland game like pheasants if your shells cycle. Another great use would be coyote hunting especially if it's a 12 ga. , more choices for Ammo.

If you're furthest shot is 30 yards and you don't have sights why aren't you using buckshot?
My turkey guns get only used for turkeys. There's more than a few. One is an 11-87 my daughter uses. It was made in 87, we shoot clay birds w it often summertime and they're awful light loads. That gun causes no probs.

I enjoy my turkey guns as turkey guns.. If i want one for sometime else , that just a good excuse to buy another one ..    I don't think you can have to many ...

Yep, with the new chokes and shells a turkey gun can be a diverse tool. I used my 870 for years as a rabbit, squirrel, goose, grouse and turkey gun.My budget dictated this. Now my 870 is a turkey gun and I have others to chase upland birds.

I use my turkey guns to exclusively miss turkeys.  I have plenty of other weapons to miss all the other game I shoot at.

There are sites that sell new and used barrels in varied conditions and prices. I have picked up almost new barrels in gun stores for pretty good discounts at times. That 11-87 was popular enough that you should be able to transform that gun into whatever tool you need to do business with.
