WOW is all i can say, my wife and i took our kayaks out today at a locally reservoir, we hadn't been there long when we heard a huge splash in some weed close to the bank and then a fawn starting crying, after about 30 seconds of splashing and crying a 8 foot gator came swimming out of the weeds with the fawns legs hanging out of his mouth, another gator came in fast trying to get in on the meal but the gator with the fawn went under and we stayed in the area 30 minutes and he never came back up. Gator had probably been watching the fawn come and get a drink for more than a week before he made the kill.

I bet that was interesting to see!!!

Natures no joke.   To many people don't realize there are two sides of nature.   One side with the fawn chasing butterflies in a flower covered field with its sibling.   Then the other side is the fawn being stalked, killed and consumed by an Apex Predator.    As brutal as that was, it's still pretty cool that you witnessed it.

Well said.

What state you in?  Gators are becoming a nuisance everywhere.  Here in Eastern NC, they are taking up residence in parking lot run off ponds.  Since they are protected, nothing can be done except call wildlife officials and hopefully get them relocated.

We are in Ms. we have a short season on them, i think two are three weeks that are draw hunts only, i think most try to get a big one so it really does not thin the population much.

That would be neat to see. Gators are awesome predators, glad it was the gator and not a 15 ft snake

The gator population has become so high that I cannot use the same methods to fish as I used to. They are killing dogs regularly and this is in Ms.

Deer aren't an endangered species.  Gator's gotta eat.
