hunting in the rain

I had no luck at school in NC didn't have time to get out. When i got home i luckily got a permit for 2 weeks here in NJ. Unfortunately the weather is rain for 10 of the days. I've read that on rainy days to hunt fields but i only have one place i can go in my designated zone and there is no fields. What would you all recommend i do in this situation? I don't want to get shut out two years in a row

Doesn't have to be fields, just find the most open territory you can find.  Open hardwoods, or even some of the 2 track roads will draw the birds.  Anything that allows them to see further since they can't hear as well in the rain, and they have trouble flying when they're wet.

Just like our hunting season, their breeding season is short, so why let a little rain damper all the fun?

Alright there's some worn out four wheeler tracks in a less dense area ill try. What about calling? I know gobllers are less vocal in the rain. How aggressive should i be calling just a couple times like every 15-20min?

That's totally up to you.  Only time I ever call only once every 15-20 minutes is when I'm asleep, but that's my style.  I also don't just sit.  Lots of birds without hens right now, so I call all day trying to locate one and get him fired up, but that's my style of hunting.

Don't totally expect gobblers to be quiet on a rainy day.  I had some OH birds all fired up on a real wet one this season.  I was suprised, but they gobbled their heads off through a downpour...I guess if they're hot, they're hot! I wouldnt mind the rain at all.  Good Luck!

I'll be out before sun up tomorrow hopin to get the guy thats been on the porch of the friends house im hunting.
