Are you pinching the striker for that Kee Kee?
I lay my striker on my pointer finger and middle finger while "pinching" it with my thumb to make the striker as stiff as possible.  Try to break the dowel on the striker with your thumb.
If that doesn't make sense, I will try to shoot a quick video and post a link.
Just let me know!!
