Gonna have Jeff make me a another box out of mahoe. These are some of the lids I'm thinking as of now Bloodwood, tulipwood an snakewood. Do you all have any other suggestions?

My vote, Snakewood. Good combo with Mahoe........

Is there anything mac ebony won't run on?
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

I like mine with the Ipe lid myself. I do not know much about them though. Here are 3 pictures for reference.

The only problem with bloodwood IS make sure it's from the heart of the wood .. you don't want that bloodwood having a lot sapwood in it .. if it has a lot of sapwood it will be raspy in my opinion.. just depends on the amount of rasp and what tones your looking for... still my vote is mac  ebony ...

My opinion is maccasar ebony. I do love bloodwood and Ipe lids but prefer those on butternut , black limba , persimmon and poplar. Snakewood is my favorite lid but I love rasp. On a henbox , thats what I like. I have never had a box , no matter the wood , that has or had a macassar lid that did not sound like pure turkey.
