Well boys, I'm getting some dog tired. I have been up every morning at 3 since April 30th. I have seen one jake die, and called in 3 longbeards to the gun for a couple of youth hunters. One hunter missed, and the other had no shot.
On the friday prior, I called in a nice longbeard to within 80 yards only to have him stand out there and just look for 15 min, before sauntering off. I really hate that one.
Tommorow, I'm either headed to the spot where my hated rival lives, or I'm going with the father of the youth hunter that missed on Sunday.
Today was a flat bust. I couldn't buy a gobble today.
We saddle up and try again tommorow. All you can do.

Stay after them Mike, we need some good points.
Me and scoot are headed out Thursday at his place. The birds are still active and looking so hopefully we can add to the score.

Keep after them.  I am going to go after them again tomorrow.
No trees were hurt in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were highly inconvenienced.

Got on one today, had to manuver in front of him. 2 hens went into the woods, but the gobbler didn't take the same path, but went a little deeper.
There was no way for me to flank him, and I gave up after 2 hours of no gobbling.
Hitting a spot tommorow that is holding 3 nice toms with NO hens! Gonna go aggresivewith gobble calls and jake decoy along with a hen.
It's on my buddy's property, so he gets first shot. There are 3 birds. Lets hope only one walks out alive.

Spring turkey hunting, I love it so.                FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

Well, vacation was a bust. I saw one jake die, another tom get shot at, and had a couple of close encounters.
I have a total of 5 days left to hunt, and I might be able to squeek out a couple other days before the season ends.
My roughest season ever. I have never delt with birds that were so wary and cautious as I have this year. Gobbling was way down, and any encounters with decoys(unless the birds were hens or jakes), ended with a tucked tail, and the bird heading out faster than they came in.
I'm trying guys, I really am. I hunted hard for 14 days straight, and I'm really sorry I had nothing to show for it.
Sorry I'm letting you guys down again.

Cheer up Mike you still have some time left, those dang birds have given everybody a hard time this year, it's been a tough spring all over the country for most hunters. On top of that you've had to deal with high pressured birds and other hunters goofing you up. Stay the course and keep after them, it'll work out for you yet, it only takes one good day when things go in your favor. This weather is really goofing the birds up, we had 32 degrees this morning and it's the middle of May.
