Remington 870's 20 ga with Browning TSS 7/9 blends

Been wanting to try these and finally found a box local.  Shot them out of 2 guns.  A 870 Youth and an older 870 SPS with the factory fiberoptic sights made a few years ago.  Both had 21" barrels.  Both were snaked before shooting.

Only shot 3 shells because I was in a rush and the distance was 40 yards lazered.

The 870 SPS using Remington Super Full gave me 151 pellets in a 10" circle
The 870 SPS using Longbeard Choke 568 gave me 129 pellets in a 10" circle.

The 870 Youth using the Longbeard Choke 568 gave me 180 pellets in a 10" circle.  That picture is shown below.

I'd say this would work for the youth gun, but not for the SPS.  Still need to keep looking for a better choke for that gun.

Try the Carlson 575. Heck of a hunting pattern. I think the Remington SF says lead only...

Unless you have to shoot the blend due to state law, what you need to look for is a different shell. TSS 7s have no place in a turkey load. It is analogous to shooting an 8 x 4 lead blend for doves. TSS 7s have the energy to kill turkeys to 118 yds and are just taking up valuable space in the hull that could be filled with 9s.

I get 177 pellets in the 10" at 40 yards with #7.5s out of my 870 with RSF choke  and 199 out of my 11-87 with a IC 562.  I definitely prefer the performance of the 7.5s over the 9s.

And what in the 10-20 with those loads? I'll take 300+ in the 10 and 200+ in the 10-20 all day long, but to each his own.

The rest of the load is evenly spread out in the 20.  The 7.5s does better for me than the 9s did.  Anything outside the 10 is irrelevant to me.

Are you referring to the Browning load when you say 7.5's?   If not, which load?  I'm not familiar with factory loaded 7.5's.

I really lean towards a 300 / 10 with remaining 200+ in the 20 . My gun shot stupid high numbers @ 410 in 10 and had to shoot to many turkeys 2 or 3 shots to get them in the pattern and that was at extended range . I backed off to a 320 in 10 and am alot more pleased . The 400+ choke is in a safe place for traveling west but in woods and open fields in South Ga a 300 choke is way better in my opinion, and BTY the 2nd100 call sign is because I'm working on my 2nd 100 Longbeards that I have personally killed .
I missed one this year also and it was because I didn't put my head down and I realize that was operator error , but that happens even when you have killed a large pile of them , so I want a lil more forgiving pattern . Even the .410 bore only shoots a 15 inch pattern at 40 and you really have to squrriel sight it .
