Well I almost had it all come together this afternoon. I was set up in a thick, brushy creek bottom that I heard a turkey gobble on the limb at daybreak this morning. It was about 20 minutes to fly up time, and a turkey gobbled less than100 yards from me. He answered me every time I called and I got to hear him drum, he was just behind a big sweet gum tree with briars all around it, so I couldn't see him but he was well within gun range. He ended up walking out at 35 or so yards and I shot a sapling near about in half between us, and he ran away. I thought I was going to be sick. On the bright side, it took my mind off of all of the unknowns going on with this virus. I am an ER nurse and things are very touch and go at work right now, and trips to the woods are few and far between. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to work a gobbling bird, and I hope I'll get him next time. I hope everyone is having a safe and productive season.
