Which Reasonably Priced HTL Load?

I've been shooting longbeards for a couple years but have had some wandering POI issues and don't like how tight they are at 20 yards and closer. I'm considering switching to a HTL load but am not willing to pay the price for TSS. If they were still making heavyweights that would be my choice using #7's. What would be a comparable load to the heavyweights? Should I be looking at Hevi #7's?

 I would go Hevi 6 or 7, or Fed HWT 6's.

I think when it comes to "reasonably priced" you're going to really get a large sample of folks weighing in.  Example: I shoot Magnum Blend (#5, #6, #7 blend 12ga. 3in 2oz) and it's certainly not everyone's idea of reasonable in terms of price seeing as how it runs $30 for a box of 5--it also may not perform in someone else's shotgun/choke setup the way it does for me so it may not be reasonable in terms of price or performance.  However, if it does perform for you and you shoot just two or three rounds a year you may be talking about one box of five rounds lasting 2+ years.  Does <$15/year on turkey ammo sound reasonable?  Only you can judge.  Personally, I care more about the pattern performing than I do about the cost--I could justify or rationalize nearly any going rate for ammo if the product did precisely what I demanded of it.

If I was going back to HTL, I would be shooting the 3" 2oz 5 or 6 Hevi Shot. However, you say the patterns are too tight with the LB's at 20 yds. My suggestion here is swap out chokes and move to a 4 or 5 shot with the Hevi brand shells or regular Federal Grand Slam lead shells.

I would try the H-13 #7s. If you do your part a turkey isn't going to walk away at 40 yrds or under.

I like the heavy 7s and Magblends. I shoot them out of a 20ga.

You might want to try more open choke I shoot a 680 Carlsons and get good patterns with the longbeard 6s.
