I removed the legs because they get in the way and if you put stuff in your back like a wing or a jacket or whatever the legs won't close or open easily.

I purchased 3 yards of coyote 1" elastic band as mentioned on another thread.

I threaded the elastic through one of the permanent buckle attachment points in the picture.

Then the running part of the elastic went through the gap on the back where the backrest would insert and through the same place on the other side.

Then to make it flip up and down correctly I removed the seat attachments from the bottom so the seat is attached with only the elastic to the seat.

See pictures below. Works great in the living room will let you know Wednesday how it works in the field.

Looks nice.  I'm might have to try that if I break down and buy a new vest but that will probably be next year.

I leave the seat attachments on the bottom of the seat attached to the vest. To be honest it makes it a pain sometimes to flip down. Without them attached how well does the seat hang on with just the elastic straps? I've already done the other mod where it goes through the cushion instead.

It worked muuuch better unhooked from the vest.  My butt must be too big for the seat, because once I detached it form teh bottom of teh vest and flipped it down, it rode right where I needed it which is about 4 inches lower than where it would sit if attached.  To me, leaving it attached makes the seat too short on the front side, I like a bit more cushion.  It felt like I was sliding off the front of the seat.

I'll have to give a try. Yours must be a newer version too. I bought mine a few years ago and it doesn't have the fancy clips for the bladder tube.

Well the clips were after market. They are awesome and the bladder is too.

Where did you get the cover from the tube on the camelback?  I've noticed my tube has some glare to it from the sun at times.

Broke down and bought a new Alps grand slam vest.  Ordered some 1" elastic.  Can't wait to try this mod out.  Thanks again for the good idea.
