I'm bored, and not wanting to hi-jack Gobblenuts thread (Shanes Experiment) I'm starting this one.  Later today I'm going to take 5 or 6 chicken eggs and make an artificial nest behind my house and put a camera on it.   There are turkeys here so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a predator to come across a ground nest, except for the time of year it is.  If I get any pictures I'll update this thread.  I encourage others to try this if they can, and share any pictures or information.

I only have one problem with this. I ain't got no cameras. . In all honesty I always have at least one hen nesting behind my house. Now a lot of the people around me have chickend and they regularly trap coons, possum and other nest robbers. The nests are almost always successful however the hawks take a heavy toll on the points. We have a lot of coopers and red tails around here.

So what's the desired result Ronnie? ??? Turkey hen taking over the nest? Sorry, I haven't read the other post you mentioned. Yet.

See what, if anything raids the nest.  Crows got it the next morning.

Gotcha. Found the other thread.
Interesting idea. Would be good to know what's raiding nests on your property, then target those critters on your place. :icon_thumright:

So did you just put your "nest" out in the open, or stash it in a thick area like hens do?

guesswho

I saw a turkey nest one time and I put it in a spot just like that.   Kind of hard getting that high in a tree with a half dozen eggs though.  ;D
