Everyone is different in what they want to hear....and depending on the call maker and the tone thier call makes.

My opinions change frequently....But to me, I'm not a fan of crystal, so for glass or bronzed glass i am really liking Honduras Rosewood, patagonian rosewood

Well....for slate, you NEED to have at least a dozen choices....but if i narrowed it down to a couple...my hickory and the new Nicaraguan rosewood.....

again, this is my pea brained opinion....

It all boils down to density and hardness.....and some woods have more of a 'tone' to them.
And those tone characteristics dictate the amount of rasp they produce..
Some woods play kind of flat, and some are lively...

And i have lots, and lots of options!!
