Congrats on your brothers first spring bird. That's always special. He's probably hooked on the spring hunt now!
I should clarify...........
Although my bro was born, raised and has lived 675 miles east of the Mississippi River. He's generally murder on fall birds. But never, seriously, got into spring hunting. About 4 years ago we went to West Texas and he took his very first Spring bird.........a Rio. Last year, he and I hunted Wyoming and Nebraska. He took 3 more spring birds........all 3 Merriam's. So a guy that grew up smack in the heart of Eastern territory took til his 5th spring bird to hang a tag on an Eastern. Probably not too many fellers start out thataway.
