Best Vest with built in chair/kickstand???????
April 29, 2019, 08:31:06 PM
Hey guys. I'm looking into buying a new turkey vest with the built in chair. I've looked at the Alps, Tenzing, and Cabelas, and I was looking for some feedback before I drop that much money on one. Looking for pros, cons, worth the money, etc.
Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks and happy hunting.

I just purchased the Alps prior to turkey season this year and have used it about 20 days so far. I cannot speak for the Tenzing or Cabelas. I really like the arrangement of the pockets and the quality of the zippers is very good. I do wish the box call pocket was larger in that it is only suitable for the smaller pocket size boxes. Weight of the vest is not an issue for me but if you want the chair, then you carry the extra weight, if not, with Alps you have the option of removing it. Overall the Alps is a quality vest and although it isn't perfect. I would not hesitate recommending it.

I have had the Alps and Cabelas. I much prefer the Alps. The leg locks on it are much better than the twist locks on the Cabelas. Plus the Alps has some large feet that won't sink. Alps has hydration bladder sleeve and Cabelas does not, at least the one I had didn't, that may have changed. Pocket layout is so personal its hard to say which is better as there is nothing bad about either. I do prefer the Alps all around. Never had the Tenzing but found some unfavorable comments about leg durability when I was researching them but I've never had one to say if that is valid.

This is my first year hunting with the Alps and I have really enjoyed it. The kickstand makes it very comfortable, and it allows you to set up in the "right spot" even if there isn't a perfect tree to get on. I haven't noticed the weight, but I always have the option to take the kickstand out if I'm really covering some ground.

I appreciate the input guys, I will look closer at the Alps. I have tried the Cabelas for about 2 minutes and didn't have any issues with it, but I haven't hunted in any of them. I liked the looks of the tensing, but wasn't sure how comfortable it would be with the kickstand placement.

I have the alps and im not crazy about it. Its heavy. I took the kick stand out and still pretty heavy. I prefer my old limbhanger.
