I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I can't stand shows about firefighters. They're never even close to accurate. About the only one that ever came close was Rescue Me, but it too was often over the top. Ghosts, alcoholism, fights, etc. But they got the closest to firehouse life than any show I've seen. I guess when you've been there and done that, you're a constant critic.
