Poured myself a cup of coffee and stepped out on the back porch this morning at about 6:40 this morning, listened for about ten minutes and heard old Double Gobble make his announcement  that He is indeed open for business. That was the first gobbles I have heard this year. The weather has moderated here latitude, 37*1247 N. , for the last couple of days. Rain forecast for this afternoon. Warm breeze this morn. Officially opens in ( six  ) weeks.

Down hear in Ms. I have been hearing birds gobble since Dec. overall we had a mild winter here. Birds were strutting with hens mid Feb. Gonna be one of those seasons this year. I believe they are way ahead of schedule. Who knows. Thank goodness I have a ton of hens on my lease. Maybe there will be enough of them that the breeding will continue through most of the season.

One of  my friends that I grew up with,  worked out South Dakota  way for several years. He then moved back to Ms. and worked for a while. I don't  know where in Ms. He lived. He guided some wile living there, told me that there was so many turkeys in the area that He could Clapp His hands in the mornings and get multiple shock gobbles. I can't imagine  that. The guy has since passed.

I got pics of two strutting mid February...and haven't stopped since. Of course I'm sure the 18 hens they have with them just boosts their confidence!
