Over the shoulder for me. Personally, like some of you, i have too much respect for the bird to stuff him in a vest game bag. May sound silly to some, but i just couldn't bring myself to do it. I need to look into the bag/sock over the head trick though.
Totally understand. I often hike in 2 to 4 miles, and I've got a bum shoulder than needs surgery. So I do what I have to do.

Over the shoulder paracoed tote.  I like the light weight Alps long spur vest instead of the heavier vests with a pouch.

I think it's way more important how the gobbler was killed that shows respect, not how he's carried out
If you make everything easy how do you know when your good at anything?

I agree with you there, but anybody that knows me knows how I hunt and how I feel about turkey hunting. I'd rather never kill one again than to kill one that I didn't earn by calling to the gun.

I usually just tote him over my shoulder to keep the tail feathers from getting ruffled. If I have a long  hike to get back to the truck, I use my EZ outdoors paracord tote.

I use the pocket on the back of the vest. I like to open the vest area after taking care of the bird and clean all the blood, feathers, dirt, leaves etc. before putting it up. I use to just sling him over the shoulder before I got a vest, but you usually would end up with a bunch of blood all over the back of your pants (which can make a mess when you climb in the truck seat).

It all depends for me on how many I shoot and have to carry out. If one and not a super long walk most likely over the shoulder. If a super long walk well over a mile or extremely steep terrain it goes in a vest. If more than one gobbler then in the vest and over the shoulder. Nothing like carrying out a few 20 pounders with out a vest on your shoulder! Makes me remind myself to never shoot 3 in one spot ever again and have to carry them all out.

I usually lay him with his back down in my vest pouch and tuck the head under his wing. Nothing flopping and no bloody back pockets.

I use a homemade turkey tote if I have a long walk. If a short walk, he's going over the shoulder.

If a boot lace breaks, I put the survivor in my turkey bag for carrying out a gob.  I keep a couple in the bottom. That way, if a lace breaks, I've got that covered as well.
