What is the bird population/hunting pressure like in northern Tennessee? A buddy and I are planning a long weekend trip there for the first weekend of April. I am just curious what I should expect. We will be hunting public. I'm not asking for any locations, just general responses about birds and pressure in the northern part of the state.

"Northern Tennessee" stretches from Reelfoot Lake to Roan Mountain and takes like 9 hours to drive.
Habitat ranges from hardwood swamp to spruce/fir forest at. 6,000 ft.

Could you narrow it down? It's a very linear state.  Most birds are somewhere in the middle, but that's also where most the people are.

That is a good point. I was thinking in the northeastern part of the state, within a hour drive on WV or VA.

Unless we have an early spring, expect at least the higher elevations of Eastern TN to be winter-like woods with little green or cover in early April.
I like TN a lot but my hunting success has been spotty there.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

Tennessee has one of the better websites for information on harvest by county, WMA etc.
If you make everything easy how do you know when your good at anything?

It's awesome if ya know where to go.

I've hunted northern TN first week of April for the last 5 years.  Population where I hunt appears to be down.  I've seen both fewer birds and more hunters each year.
