As I'm walking I see thru the trees a strutter on the side of a hill over a gully. I don't think I can work close enough for a shot, but I give it my best. I'm using all available cover, crawling when necessary, and glancing thru the brush to see if he's still there. He is, and I'm feeling pretty good about my senior stealth movement. As I finally get behind my intended goal, a huge pile of brush, I know I'm about 75 yards away from my target. All I need to do now is try calling him in. He doesn't have the big gully between him and me now to hang up on, and I'm confident. As I peer around the brush to see if he's still there, what greets me is a cut tree stump that with the light making it look dark, and resembling a strutting Turkey. As I sit back to relax feeling exhausted, I'm thinking, I'm sure glad no one was around to witness me do a stalk on a tree stump.
My wounds tally:
Poison Oak left forehead, right hand, and what I pee with, probably from the right hand(and that's not funny).
Totally bruised hip down right leg, and large lump on hip where I fell on a metal plate.
Bruise under left eye where choke on gun slammed me.
Left hand heeling up from Locust tree. Just why does a tree need 2" spikes? Why?
Tick bite under chin that has finally got over the itch like Hell point.
Bruise on same leg I fell on, but below other bruise from another fall, and collision with log.
Scratches up and down the inside of my legs from multifloral rose bushes that makes it look like I made love with a cactus. That crap goes right thru thin hunting pants.
2 bug bites on my face that have to be spiders. Ugly but healing.
Slighly sprained wrist, probably from second fall putting bruise on leg.
Swollen left little finger from,I don't have a clue.
Good trip I didn't break anything.
