Tacking latex versus proph

I've found the latex from Pioneer to be the easiest to work with in terms of stacking and tacking layers because it has the talcum powder and slides around a little easier.  I like the latex from Mitchell at Dead End, but it's a little trickier to work with because it doesn't have the talcum and tends to stick together when moving around to stack and tack.

But for proph, I haven't found a good solution.  It just slides all over the place and seems to be impossible to tack down after stacking.  What is the best method to keep proph in place before throwing it on the press?

Biggest thing I've learned with proph is you need to stack your reeds on a hard surface. Then take something with sharp points and make several tacks on the edges, using a sharp and firm pop when tacking. It works for me.

I tack my proph reeds one at a time when stacking. If I do say a .004 green top Reed over double proph, I'll tack a proph to the green, then I'll tack the other proph on.

Get yourself a pair of substantial tweezers and use a piece of laminate floor board to tack your proph.  I learned this trick many years ago and it has been the best way by far.  Tack each corner with force onto the board and the Proph will stay together.

I stack on a little 6x4x 3/8 thick steel plate I have. Just something I had at work and took home for that purpose. Like others have said, for proph, stack and tack one at a time. Also, I dont want a bunch of different tools laying around...all I use are my scissors and tweezers. I use my scissor tips to tack with. I use small Fiskars scissors as they are sharp as hell and cut better than anything else Ive found. Cant stand fly tying scissors.

I haven't found it any harder to stretch, but for me it is harder to keep from wrinkling when set in the frame.  That doesn't necessarily negatively impact the sound of the call, but just doesn't look as pretty as cleanly-stretched, thicker latex material.

Easy to stretch just hard to handle. Stacking wrinkly material will test your patience sometimes.

As someone else mentioned tacking one by one works the best for me. I tack them this way regardless of if Proph is involved or not.
