Alright guys be prepared to laugh.
I hit my first spot well before day light and get set up on a creek bottom where I know a bird has been working. Well I hear nothing, I slipped out and moved to another location and setup and nothing. I started thinking to my self dang birds are henned up. They just arent saying a dang thing. Well I leave this area and go to another area that I havent been to in hearly 2 years. No tire tracks thats a good sign. So I walked to the back field and hit the call and right away I hear some scratching in the leaves about 60 yrds away below alittle hill. I started thinking to my self should i belly crawl up to it or just sit here and see if I can call them in. So I stay there standing next to a tree. Next thing I know I see what looks like two gobblers and two hens start moving up into the clear cut further. Dang hens where leading them away. So I slipped out and went around them. I called for awhile and nothing. The wind started to blow harder so I became a indian right away and started slipping through this clear cut making sure to hit every pine needle bunch I could to make less noise. I finally get to where the birds where and nothing. So I start parallel to the field and I get about 100 yrds from the birds where originally and I look up and there is a gobbler running in front of me about 20 yrds away boom. I smoked a big ol pine tree. When that shot went off the skies lite up with turkeys. for a second I thought I was quail hunting. Well I started to think I didnt pump another shell in the chamber when another gobbler took off flying right in front of me. When I finally realized I had pumped another shell in I shoot my second shot and he is still flying so I shot again and nothing. This all happened in a matter of seconds. The first thing I thought of after all the shooting was dang my shoulder is sore lol. I wish I never had shot and educated them for this season. But I was on a mission to get a bird today. That dang bird would of been a good one too. So go ahead and laugh everyone lol bc I sure am
