do turkeys sail down off roost or behind them into field?

Hey guys, I have a question and wanted some opinions.  Most of the area I hunt in Wisconsin is ridges with fields on top and openings or creek bottoms below.  The turkeys I have scouted and hunted usually roost about a third or half way down ridge.  In your guys experiences do they usually fly down into bottom and work there way up hill or do they turn around and fly directly behind them into a picked corn field or clover field.  Thanks Scott

Scoot, even the turkey don't know what he's going to do when he wakes up of a morning. They'll usually do the opposite of what you want them to do. Now if you could get there early enough to set up a decoys before they can see, and make a couple of very soft tree yelps,  you might get them to pitch down where you want them. I'm guessing they could see your decoys better in the picked corn or clover field.

Here they usually roost on the side of a ridge and pitch on the uphill side then go where ever they want.
