Tennessee Turkey Hunting Help?

I will be in Knoxville during turkey season and I am looking for some advice on taking a turkey in Tennessee. I will pretty much miss the whole Georgia season.

This is not a lot of help, but you could check with TWRA or the game warden in that area , and see what public ground is available....good luck i hope you fine a place...

We have already drawn for quota hunts so you should be looking for WMAs in the hunting guide that are "same as statewide" for turkey hunting. Our GIS folks have a really good map on the website and app that allow you to view seasons/regs for each area as well.

I doubt anyone will put more than this on an open forum, as it's out there forever when they do.

I'm sure there is land around the Knoxville area. 


An hour North you have the Big South Fork with 125,000 acres in TN and KY that's open to hunting.  Royal Blue and the North Cumberland WMA are also up this way.

Thanks guys, I have done some research on Cumberland WMA and looks to be the best option. Just dread the public land because I will only be a weekend hunter. I will be attending the National Forensic Academy and work in Law Enforcement. I will give the TWRA a call and see if they will help an old law man out. I researched but didn't see any guide services close by. What are the odds of me spending a weekend driving around and asking permission from private land owners that I see turkeys on?

I've only hog and deer hunted NC WMA but it's very big territory.  I've been all over the BFS and if you get away from the easy spots it's great hunting.  Both places are tough because of the mountains and we just don't have a huge number of birds like middle and west TN.

Alright guys, I have been in Tennessee in the Oak Ridge area west of Knoxville for 3 weeks now. Have ridden around a bit and after talking to a few people, this area seems to be poor for turkeys. Anyone got a deer lease or hunting area they don't deer hunt on that will allow me to weekend turkey hunt? I know its a long shot but I had to ask. Gonna be here training at the National Forensic Academy for the next 7 weeks. Thanks for any suggestions. Heard I need to head North west from Knoxville to get into turkeys. Or back towards Georgia where I am from and have tagged out.
