Interesting observation on my farm

Yesterday the birds were on my CT farm in force. In the hay lot by my house was a flock of birds doing what they do this time of year. There was one huge dominant gobbler and 5 jakes and one bearded hen. 3 of the jakes just stayed in strut standing together all day. The other 2 smaller jakes hung close to the hen. The gobbler fell in and out of strut and chased the 3 amigos if they got to close to his date. They half gobbled and squealed. I never saw them mate but it was close. What amazed me was that they stayed in a 50 yard area from 9:30 until 4 pm. Makes me wonder why some days you can't find them. They were close this morning gobbling only a few times, then back to playing turkey games. Season opens Wednesday here in CT. I going to state land, saving my farm for weekends only. Once I shoot "my" birds it's never the same around here. I like to see them and observe! Last year I got to watch them mate. I am a lucky bastard
