This short hen box from Matt Fulkerson just arrived today.  This one is snakewood over black limba. Matt did a beautiful job on this hen box and it has a killer sound.  Thanks Matt.  Kudos also to Richard Hudson and Doug Morgan for mentoring this fine young callmaker.

Are you willing to step out of the boat as Peter did?  Think about it, he wouldn't have walked on water without stepping out of the boat!

Recieved  my snakewood over curly black limba short hen box from Matt. Super craftsmanship and amazing sound.
This call is all turkey.  Thanks Matt.

Congrats, Matt's doing an awesome job on these hen boxes.

As a callmaker, and I would hardly consider myself in that class just yet, there is just something about when everything falls in place and all of a sudden the wood starts to grow feathers.  It is very rewarding.. Whats even more rewarding than that are people who enjoy them as much as you did building them!  Now, the true test is not to appease our ears or eyes, but to fool the ol' long spured general of the woods.. Bob, Mike, Thanks for your kind words and May God bless your time in his creation this spring.

Quick question. I've read on here that hen boxes are a little difficult to operate, kind of like longboxes. Is that true?

A little different to operate, but they never struck me as more difficult.  Sure are a lot of fun to run.
