Was thinking about chasing longbeards this year in Georgia, and was wondering if anyone here knows whether there are certain areas of the state where the odds of getting permission to hunt on private land are fairly good.  Please feel free to PM me.  My plans would be to start out on public, and then knock on some doors in the afternoons.  (My experience here in Wisconsin is that there a few areas where 90% of farmers seem to give the green light, and there are other areas where 90% of them don't.)

Good luck gaining permission without $$$$.   It's getting to where even family members are having a hard time finding a place to hunt.  Land is going for a premium now days.  Some owners have caught on and lease turkey rights separate from deer rights.

Most private land in southwest Georgia is either hunted by family or leased for money. Knocking on doors here would be pretty much a waste of time.

Been here in GA 23 years now and like the others have said good luck.  Public land may be your only option.

If, I ever won the Lottery-- I would buy at least 400 acres in a wild turkey rich County of Georgia, Mississippi, or Alabama. Maybe near Meridian, Miss where Gene Nunnery hunted. I have both his books and that area of Mississippi just seems magical somehow.

What part of the state do you plan to go to?

Thanks for all the responses and pm's.  To answer the most recent post, I would be wide open to hunting pretty much anywhere in the state.
