Planning a rio trip for next year just looking for the line for rios within the state. I'm assuming it's snake boot country also. I see the season is only a month long when does that second gobbling peak kick in? I always like hunting late season here in wi so I'm thinking that last week in April or first week in may might not be bad for OK.

I won't even bother asking about public land I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, I will figure that out myself. Thanks for any help.

I went to OK in 2016.. public land for two days and then an outfitter for three..  the last week of April and the first week of May.. it was tough.. birds were about done .. I got two one on public and my group ended up killing 8 .. 3 on public and 5 with the outfitter , but it was hard hunting.. from talking to locals and the outfitter.. we missed the killing time window by about 10 days .. if we had went around the third week in April I think it would have been much better.. but it was also a very dry and hot spring out there last year and that made a difference too I think.

The Rio rang is not straight North/South.  The farther north the farther east they range.  For instance if you hunt around Tulsa then imho it's Rio's but go to Mcalaster then your in Eastern hybrids.  Secondly the peak time varies from year to year.  This year was tough as everything was hened up every where I went until about May 1.  The last week was decent.  With that in mind if I had to pick set dates and I could secure some private ground,? I'd opt for April 20-25.  Just remembered that all decent public land will be raped and pillaged like the Vikings have been there by then.  If I were to hunt public late?I'd definitely either be there opening day or last week of season.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
