What's the near future look like

I'm a bit of a worry wart and every spring I sit and ponder how good or bad the hatch may be. We have had really great weather here in Indiana until about a week and a half ago. Last year we had a cool wet spring and I saw some Jake's this spring. I was wondering how y'all's weather was in these past few weeks and months prior? We had some pretty heavy rains  and the rivers got huge so I'm sure those nests all got  destroyed by water. I'm like any other hunter that wants to see good hatch's so we have birds to hunt in the future. So I guess I'm just asking how do you guys think your hatch will be per the weather. Predators are a whole other side of the equation.

As another Indiana resident I too am concerned over the wet spring. Lately I have seen a large number of hens in groups and singles. I would think they should be sitting by now. Our season came in so late this year that a lot of the breeding activity has already ended making renesting less likely.

Wettest April in history this year. Fair amount of rain and cold so far in May. Hoping the early nests didn't take a beating too bad. Hens are still getting seen being bred. I think 62 has been a high temp so far this May. 2 years ago we had 5 consecutive days in the 80's by now. Last years spring was pretty decent. Had 10 jakes together around me the other day. That was a sight and sounds to boot. It looks like the weather is set to turn for the better for the year after Sunday.

Last year was one of the wettest springs I can recall. I can't comment on the number of jakes this spring because I only saw a handful but did see a pile of birds. Seemed to be plenty of hatchlings last year as well. Weather here was pretty good this spring until a few days ago. Temp dropped drastically and it's wet as heck right now. Supposed to get around 4" tomorrow I believe.

I only saw 1 Jake this spring,and with the floods worry about the hatch. I did however see more turkeys this year than in the recent past.

Mississippi-Noxubee County area here. Saw a ton of jakes this year and actually had them ruin a couple of hunts. As for this years hatch I think in our area we should be ok. Seems the hens started a tad early this year, I saw the first group of polts back almost two and a half weeks ago. The weather has been great for raising a brood up until the last two weeks. I expect it to be a pretty solid hatch overall. On a side note, the group that I have already seen was quite impressive. She had 10 polts with her which is pretty exceptional to get that many all the way through hatch.

It still amazes me that hens manage to raise their young successfully in the wild. If you have ever attempted to raise turkeys it is not easy to keep them alive.
